As part of Blow up,

an online project at Jeu de Paume in Paris,

I am working on setting up a series of gardens around the world in pieces of furniture in offices spaces

it is called The office of imaginary landscape

if you would like make a garden you may follow the protocol:

Set aside a space in an office with a light source (sunlight is good/ a window)

Employ a surface or object, or combination of these Cover or fill with earth

Make humid

Find seeds or small plants (any species can be used, some may work better than others)

Embed them in the earth

Place a webcam in front of this arrangement in order to record what may happen

Water the plants and seeds as you see fit. Continue this as long as you wish.

The video feed from the webcam will be linked to the website of Jeu de paume via facebook and blog-video.tv where it will be placed along side other feeds, The location of the camera and plants will be identified using standard internet tools google earth for example

It is always changing.

It is affected by other things.

It may be accessible but go unnoticed.

Part of it may also be part of something else.

only one of them is now visible as a chair.

An office space for the cultural centre 'Au bout du plongeoir' at Le manoir de Tizé, where work and relaxation, production and reflection are see as one.

This permanent installation is both a functional office space and an experiment in sculpture and furniture/space making. One of the main features is a large ball which contains much of the residue produced during the making of the various elements of the whole, it becomes a obstacle to be negotiated on a daily basis, an added extra in the office environment in which positioning and decision making are all important. The project began in 2007 and was completed in 2011, it is a meeting space, archive, office and relaxation area, with different types of furnishings adapted to different uses. The whole space has been thought through from shelves and desks to lighting and painting. It is permanent but may not remain forever, it is an ongoing space, never entirely finished. The project has become a field of investigation that has informed the rest of my work. Beyond the space itself I have produced videos that deal with the history of the site and my first encounters with it, and the notions of 'office' and 'work' as themes to investigate. The whole project has been documented in drawings, photographs and collages that may at some point be published. some of the chair designs first made in Tizé have been since used in other contexts notably the block chair that has been shown as part of the mud office installation mud office does lunch at le biennale de Rennes, and my solo exhibition Why stand when you can fall at Le Quartier Quimper, fr.

I could not send the original objects because I would be forced to chop my arm off or at least
a section of it. The invitation to this exhibition arrived at a fortuitous moment as this is an
object that I have only recently acquired and will only have for a short space of time, it is in a
sense an object that cannot wait. As I write it no longer resembles the modest photo that I
took.

The mark arrived after I had burned myself with a hot piece of metal. I noted that others
would notice it but were often too embarrassed to ask how I came to have it there on my arm
in the first place. If they did ask I would take some pleasure in describing the painful
circumstances by which I came to have this regular geometric shape on my arm, and the
listener would often show signs of discomfort and disgust. It seemed an interesting object
simply because of the ill ease or slight fascination it aroused in others. For me it is less a
question of ill ease than simple pain, but it has become equally an object of fascination,
though now it is no longer what it was.
